SEMINARIOS WUKKO Y CNKI 2025 EN PERU
|
On June 26, Sensei Gustavo Gondra traveled to Peru to complete a project that began in March 2020: the definitive and official introduction of Uechi Ryu Karate Do in that country through the WUKKO World Uechi Ryu Karate Do Hachiokai Organization. The first steps taken by Sensei Enrique Cuevas at the end of 2019 on a visit to Buenos Aires where talks began to bring the style to that country, then the start of the project in March 2020. Two visits carried out so far by Sensei Ismael Quintanilla for improvements and graduations in 2024 and 2025 that lead to this stage with the invitation from Sensei Cuevas to teach Official Seminars of the Uechi Ryu style, but at the same time
also give Interstyle Karate Seminars representing CNKI National Confederation of Interstyle Karate and also establish the Organization there as has been done in Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Uruguay with a National and International in Aregntina.

THE FIRST OPEN INTERSTYLES OF KARATE SEMINAR WAS SUCCESSFULLY HELD IN PERU, HELPFUL BY HANSHI GUSTAVO GONDRA The first Interstyles of Karate Seminar, led by Hanshi Gustavo Gondra, was held in Lima from June 27th to 29th, thus setting the first precedent for the launch of the Uechi Ryu Karate style in Peru. The Peruvian School of Karate Do "Enrique Cueva" is grateful to Master Gondra, 10th Degree International Karate Masters Association and the highest representative of Uechi Ryu Karate in Argentina and throughout the Americas, who shared his extensive martial experience with the attendees of the three seminar sessions. Attendees included not only karatekas of various styles, but also exponents of traditional Taekwondo and Kung Fu Taichi. "Master Gondra demonstrated that he is a great expert in the Okinawan style of Uechi Ryu with Chinese roots, as well as a great connoisseur of other styles such as Shotokan, Goju, Shorin, and even Judo. Those attending our seminar were able to broaden their perspectives to live Traditional Karate more consciously," stated Sensei Enrique Cueva, who facilitated Hanshi's arrival in Peru. In addition, Hanshi Gondra examined two aspiring SHODAN KARATE UECHI RYU black belts. It is worth noting that, along with Sensei Ismael Quintanilla, 3rd Degree Uechi Ryu Karate since 2024, there are now three Peruvian yudansha graduates.

CNKI AND WUKKO IN URUGUAY

Sensei Hugo Amado is a representative of the Uechi Ryu and CNKI schools in Uruguay. Sensei Hugo says that after 52 years of practicing Karate Do and many years as a competitor, he is just beginning to enjoy, learn, and share his art, guided by an internationally recognized master, Sensei Gustavo Gondra. He has had and continues to have many conversations with him, sometimes disagreeing and sometimes understanding! But always admiring his career, dedication, and commitment to his school, his teaching, and his students. Today, after the pandemic, he is rebuilding his school, trying to reunite old students and people he taught and trained since childhood, who are now adults and professionals. The idea is to reunite and continue fighting together for the school in Uruguay. Sensei Amado says, "Working with my master is slow, but knowing that a school with all its black belts united and officially recognized in Uruguay would continue to be respected and admired in our country, I have and feel Sensei Gondra's full support. Therefore, with that strength, the school can only grow..." |
KARATE IN MY LIFE..!
|
KARATE IN MY LIFE / By Maximiliano La Rosa
In 1986, I was finishing high school. My interest lay in watching a lot of martial arts movies, like The Great White Dragon, Return of the Dragon, Enter the Dragon—the best movie for me to this day, which I've seen for ages, I don't know how many times—like The Karate Kid, and so many others from that era. On my way back from school, I was passing by Kumazawa High School until I decided to go and see what martial arts was all about.
A Karate-Do class was starting. A sensei, who seemed Japanese, even in his way of speaking, was doing what I later learned was a Sanchin analysis. To me, the blows seemed brutal, but I was fascinated. Adding to this my desire to learn and, why not, my personal insecurity, it didn't take long for me to start practicing.
The practices weren't just physical, but they also built my self-confidence. Afterward, we would do two hours of combat training on Saturdays, followed by relaxation and meditation.
A change began to take place in my life. Along with my practice, I also studied at university. I never skipped practice, even during exam time. In fact, good practice, including a good Sanchin, was essential to be able to study, take the exam, and pass. The practices, years, and graduations went by, and karate not only became indispensable in my life, but a part of it. I always say I have two degrees: a university degree and a karate degree. I can't forget the 1st Dan exam... I was fortunate that Sensei Gondra, with his generosity and trust in me, gave me the opportunity to teach classes for adults and children. It was an experience and responsibility that I always remember and am still grateful for!
Years passed, I discontinued the practice, never abandoning it since there is never a lack of opportunity to put on the Karate gi and perform, at least some katas, combat techniques, etc. Karate is a lifestyle that when you understand that it is not only kicks and punches, but that it has philosophy, self-confidence, wisdom, everything that Sensei Gustavo Gondra taught us and continues to teach us with his incredible consistency in practice worldwide, his wisdom (he does not forget a single name of the Sensei not only Uechi, the history, the anecdotes), a pleasure to listen to him talk about his trips to Japan, it is pure wisdom that he always shares with his students. Finally, I do not want to fail to recognize the greatness and humility of Sensei Gondra towards me, who is always there to offer me a moment (a coffee as he says), listening and advising from Karate as well as advising me in my bad moments, "only a wise man is humble." Thanks to Karate and Sensei, my life was and will surely be better……… There is always time to practice Karate……!!!! |
FULL CONTACT TV PODCAST
PART TWO OF A MUST-SEE ARTICLE WITH MASTERS |
A new season of Full Contact TV begins, and more masters, teachers, and fighters share their influence on this program dedicated to spreading the martial arts we love so much. We're also always surrounded by the old friends we made along the way, because they are the ones who give this program its unique touch and sensitivity. And since man doesn't live by punches, throws, holds, and kicks alone, the podcast was born, born from the need to know the inner workings of those of us who live to fight, and fight to live. This year, the podcast continues that quest, and in an attempt to delve deeper into the path of learning and knowledge, it's revamping its format through the creation of the Masters' Roundtables, a space conceived so that the voices of those who have traveled the furthest can intersect in an exquisite counterpoint of both nuances and definitions. And ready to play the first notes of this stave, an essential Master and Friend, Shihan Gondra, along with a stellar multidisciplinary panel, takes us by the hand, helping us unravel this infinite cosmos that is the martial arts. Gustavo Gondra, Edgardo Villanueva, José Stratico, Andrés Sojnoczki, and Pablo Mercadé join us in an unmissable two-part interview. Five experienced masters were invited to a panel to discuss and discuss each point of view, from yesterday and today, within the world of martial arts: evolution, regression, development, changes, improvements, or perhaps not. All opinions expressed in a two-part program, two unmissable episodes. Part 2 premieres May 25, 5 PM. We hope you all enjoy it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU8ZIlOoflo |

We are several teachers from Central and South America who are aligned with traditional Karate and Kobudo, believing in martial arts as a way of life, a way of self-improvement, and a way of preserving Japanese culture. You can continue to see our updates on our website: www.obikarate.org. I want to thank Hanshi Gustavo Gondra for his unconditional support, as always. Long live Cnki! Long live Wukko!
